Indian Drug Manufacturers Association (IDMA) in association PharmaTechnologyIndex.com will be launching a new event called Pharmatech Expo 2011 in Indore. This event will be held from April 22nd to 24th and aims at catering to the needs of the small scale buyers in the country. This indigenously driven three day exhibition cum expo will be conducted in the same way as the CPhI at national level across the country.

Speaking about the event Chirag Doshi, vice chairman, Indian Drug Manufacturers Association-Gujarat State Board (IDMA-GSB) informed, “Apart from catering to the buyers in India, IDMA's other main focus through this event would be to highlight the locations in the country that are pharmaceutical hub that yet needs to get its due.” He emphasises that there are many places in the country that have huge pharma potential or presence but are rarely noticed and acknowledged enough to conduct an national level event there.

The event will focus on projecting the latest technological trends in pharma industry, facilities and services available, quality control and government regulations and controls etc. It will also showcase the latest products, machinery, equipment developments in the industry for generating business and up gradation.

He said, “Through this event even the small scale manufacturers from small cities will be able to highlight their potential and be part of the growth and development that IDMA envisions for them. Indore has so much potential but had been ignored so far but we are hopeful through this event we will be able change it.”

As of now the organisers have not decided on where and when the next event will be organised or how frequently since it is their maiden project at this scale. Doshi informs, “Our main focus will be on the small cities that have been lesser known as pharmaceutical hub, but we have not decided anything as of yet. Everything depends upon the level of response we receive from the Indore event.”

The event has already attracted over 200 exhibitors in its first course and it is reported that the organisers are expecting over 7000 participants to attend this event.
